Power

Power, the ability to do or act. A political or national strength, might or force.
The possession of control or command over others.

Upon reading this definition by Webster's Dictionary, I thought of Henry David Thoreau. Concluding a way to visually represent the word, power, was the old steam trains of the American West.

Thoreau often wrote about this subject and this vast symbolism in our culture. His description in Walden's Pond from Sounds and Solitude best fits the complex dialogue he felt between our landscape and the evolving society.

In this section he says, "This whistle of the locomotive penetrates my woods summer and winter, sounding like the scream of a hawk sailing over some farmer's yard...Here come your groceries, country; your rations, countrymen! Nor is There any man so independent on his farm that he can say no." and continues on to say that, "...as if this traveling demigod, this cloud-compeller, would ere long take the sunset sky for the livery of his train; when I hear the iron horse make the hills echo with his snort like thunder, shaking the earth with his feet, and breathing fire and smoke from his nostrils, it seems as if the earth had got a race worthy to inhabit it."

Concept Blog - ENERGY

Energizing an electrical circuit with current is to produce the capacity to do work.
Our everyday lives are bountiful with sources of energy; both the natural and the created.
Humans have set ourselves apart, in part because of our ability to hone energy and it's power for our own needs.

Concept Blog - RICH

To be rich in color or to vibrant, strong and deeply saturated with color. Orange is an intense and vivid color associated in the Elizabethan Era as a status of wealth. Enforced by the Sumptuary Laws that only the rich or the affluent upper class were allowed to wear the color orange. Very costly at the time to dye any fabrics but especially the color orange as it was a combination of colors and technique to achieve the brilliant, rich and dramatic color orange.

Concept Blog - LOVE

According to Webster's Dictionary "love" is a noun meaning to have 'a profoundly tender, passionate affection for another person', I agree. However that definition offers no balance, no yin and yang. To me love is also rough, discordant, sometimes uncivilized and can be scathing in the heat of rebuttal arguments. Love is devotion and love can hurt.

Concept Blog - TEXTURE

Abstract design and implied texture that the human form can create when conforming itself into juxtaposed positions. Organic lines outline the textural surface and suggested tactile feel of the body, revealing the potential essence of who this may be.

Concept Blog - MOTION

A sweeping movement, an expansion that advances horizontally and progresses vertically towards an ambiguous horizon. A motion that lends itself to a perceptual variation of gestures and individual creations of our imagination.

Abstract Urban Design

Abstract urban designs. I find immediate attraction to the natural world and it's organic formations but am also intriuged by the design of our urban and rural assembled environments. Taking closer observation of the engineering made of the fabercated materials that surround us.
